The all Electric Fish Fryers” as it was originally known was taken over by George and Helen in 1967. In 1971, the fish and chip shop was renamed after the co-founders. In 2015, under the management of son Kostas, the shop was refurbished and modernised to keep up with modern ‘fast food’ trends to include an extended menu whilst still maintaining the original ‘Traditional’ outlook.

Still family owned, George & Helen’s is now run by third Generation Tony, with his close associate Darren at his right hand side whilst second generation Kostas helps with the overall running of the shop. As a family, we are proud to be serving the local community for over 53 years and are grateful to all our customers past and present.

We have been fortunate to have been visited by celebrities in early years, Roger Tongue who played Sandy Richardson in the 1970’s famous hit series Crossroads Motel was a regular customer. Bernie Winters, part of the duo of the famous comedy partnership Mike and Bernie Winters also used to be a regular.
